Second Group History

Sailing the High Seas

Saturday 15 of March, 2008
Session Date: 2008-03-15

The groups sails out on July 4th with Leif on Sven on Leif's Ship, The Sea Dragon, which resembles a Norse long boat.

Surprisingly the group finds no orcish inspectors in area. Leif and Sven had already captured and detained the one supposed to inspect their boat.

When he comes to, the inspector claims there is a war fleet heading south that we will run into on our way north. Jean-Luc puts the inspector out of his misery during a dual.

During those 5 days, some of the group recovers from sea-sickness (Sol, Bono, & Rondax).

5 days out, a storm approaches. The group hears a high-sqealing yowl echoing. Then the boat is boarded by a green gangly humanoids (aquatic trolls, scrags). A total of seven scrags boarded the boat with one of their number being a shaman. After 4 or 5 rounds of combat, 5 scrags dead, 1 held by a Prentice spell, and the shaman sent over board by Tyke's explosive lightning bolt. The group finishes off the scrags using Prentice's flaming hands.

July 14, Sail within sight of land near Deirthane.

Approached by 2 orcish war-ships which lead the party into port. Tyke, using his invisible flying trick, overhears conversation among the orcish soldiers saying they should sink as at sea. Directed to port 17. Seems to be an extremely large military contingent in the area for the size of Deirthane.

Jean-Luc is using an alias Pendor. Extensive questioning from orcish functionary for all members of the party.

Sven & Leif usually set up shop in the Sultry Squid, inn-keeper doesn't really trust anyone. They also know Baldor Wolftooth who was a blacksmith in Deirthane.

Colin Thunderhorn(1) is a man from up north that should be in touch with Sven & Leif.

Sultry Squid is ran by a woman(2). The group ordered 2 rooms and a stable for Rondax by mid-afternoon.

The groups splits up looking for information. Bono - gather information around the town. Nothing known about Hand of Franaxa.

Jean-Luc & Rondax - head down to the docks to hire out as labor. Offered job as haulers for 2sp / day in Gagnerian Marks. Find out that odd things are affecting the ports. Orcs have been mobilizing alot of military in the area. Military presence has tripled. This includes both soldiers and ships. Ships like Leaf's (northern tribes) do not make it into the port. Questions concerning Leaf's ship abound in the docks.

Sol - find the blacksmith. Shop is on north end of town. Baldor is in his late 50's. From Baldor, Sol learns the following. The Northern Tribe lands is a complete War-zone. Would not recommend going north. Also says that clan Blackstar is a wanted name. When Sol informs Baldor the group is looking for the King's daughter Baldor asks which one and mentions a second daughter(3). Resistance is strong in Deirthane. Can not be rooted out by force. Does not know why the military build is occurring. Orcs are creating new settlements, offering compensation for damages during the invasion, and leaving life as it was.

Every new moon outside Adeatha(4) there is a place the orcs will not go. A grove of faerie folk. Outside of Deirthane, to the west, there is a clearing with a circular pond. New moon would bring the fairfolk out gather. Other's now gather there. New Moon is in a week's time.

Prentice - Find the down-trodden. Fair number of people that show no signs of the new wealth brought in by the orcs. Very few people hurt or killed by the invasion. The down-trodden are those that did not lay down quietly. Military needs come first, then bureaucracy, then the remainder. Prices have gone up, many people can not afford to live. Some very dark stories concerning beatings and abuse by orcish guards. Punishment does not fit the crime. Half-orcs being born. Many clerics of Franaxa have died, some killed, some in mysterious ways. Many people looking elsewhere for spiritual guidance, some going to Dukash. The Orcs are serious about stopping other clerics leading prayers. Some people mention a lady in Violet who helps out those in need.

Tyke - sneaks into the cabin on an Orcish ship. Sees a trap on the door, both strong-boxes are trapped. Locked box on desk that is trapped. Enchanted sword on wall, necromancy. Secret compartment in one of the strong boxes, a secret drawer in the desk. Casts knock on the drawer in the desk. Finds 3 small black bags and a sheaf of paper. 1 bag has a powder. 1 bag clinks like metal 1 bag clinks like its not metal.

Papers: 2 things of note Manifest: 30 Large shipments of something alchemical. Will come into port under heavy guard. Arrived within the last 2 weeks. Captain Homok Lordblinder not happy to be a captain of the ship. He knows something about the alchemical agents. Believes operation is far too dangerous.

Captain of Vessel comes in while Tyke is reading the papers wearing brigadine armor and a falchion, brings a peasant woman and the dock inspector. Dock inspector allowed our ship to land. Knows Sol's name, the captain claims he was at Dol Geldar. The Captain pays the dock master Galgrin with a green stone. The Captain is not the highest ranking Gagnerian officer.
