Author's Note: The Heart of Time is introduced into Sol's life at Copperwell during his first meeting with Thane Steelbiter. At the time of this writing, there is very little known about the Heart or its purpose. What little knowledge is known about the artifact is held solely by Granite Armstrong and The Church of Keeperstone, the dwarven god of time and the dead. For information on its introduction into the campaign please read the following posts in the online campaign, The Kaerith Dwarves:
The Gift to Flood-Adam Davis (DM)
The Gift-Scott Laslo (Granite)
It should also be known that this entry, while seemingly valid from a pc's perspective, draws largely on OOC knowledge and conversations which have not been validated by anyone.

This relic, thought lost to The Church of Keeperstone, had actually found a home within the great walls of the Steelbiter Hold. No one knows for sure if the Church ever really lost the Heart of Time, or if they placed it where Clan Steelbiter would conveniently locate it. The Church never asked for its return, and Clan Steelbiter assumed they could do with the relic as they wished.
The Heart of Time is almost as old as The Church of Keeperstone, almost as old as dwarves themselves. The arts used in its creation have long since been forgotten by everyone. Some within The Church believed that Rourin himself helped in The Heart's creation. The truth will never be known. Shortly after creating The Heart, the priests of Keeperstone realized that it could not be used lightly, and if it were to fall into the wrong hands, it could ruin the world. To that end, they enchanted the item even further. It could not be used by any single dwarf, but required three dwarves, all of sound mind. Of those three dwarves, one had to be a dwarf who did not worship Keeperstone. A fourth dwarf, a true believer of Keeperstone, was needed to lead the others in order to activate The Heart.
Despite those few parameters, no one actually knows how to activate The Heart. Rorun, besides being God of Time, is also God of Secrets. The Heart was among a limited number of magical items that were credited to Rorun himself. With its creation and its power, very few dwarves ever learned of its power at its creation, and even fewer learned its secrets as the years progressed.
