Second Group History

1996 - Yearly

On to Renre', The capital of Irelia. Built as a city of circles. I must remember to set up diplomatic relations with the dwarves here. Gagneria is at war in The Whitelands. Arginius (2) needs the battle flag of Malerbia and texts of its history. Nandezar (3) is believed to hold both of these items in a warehouse on the 3rd Terrace.

We were finally able to make it to the warehouse. Nandezar had quite a few creatures guarding him. The first one we met was a worm, had to kill it. While looking for Nand. we met an azmith (an electric bat creature. That thing put up quite a fight before it finally died. Nandezar captured us in a tube using an illusion of some sort. Jean Luc was the only one not trapped and he was able to get us out. We were close on Nandezars trail when he sent 4 Hook Horrors after us. We were able to kill two before Prentice unleashed the Chalice of Naldair. Nandezar succumbed shortly thereafter. We retrieved the flag and the texts and returned them to Arginius.

Off to Serinn(4) where we hope to meet up with Oswald a wizard who supposedly knows where Noldair is located. Two days into our journey to Serinn, we're attacked by an Esper named Artel(5). Apparently Artel works for the Irelian government. He wears white studded leather armor with Ivory. The magic users put an end to his miserable life using the Chalice. Three days later we met a Crazy man. Two days later we finally make it to Serinn.

Oswald had been a member of the towns folk in Serinn. Unfortunately, we learned, shortly after arriving, that Oswald had become a Knight of the Mummy(6) a few months prior. The town had been forced to kill him after his transformation. Since his death, the town had been plagued by something that is killing people, everyone believes it to be coming from the tower. The mayor offered us 2000 to kill whatever that something is. Endock, a gnome, offered us 1500 for a prism inside the tower. Mirim, an old witch, offered us 1000 for a Rug of Suffocation. Tolentot, a human, offered us 4000 for the entire Tower.

We were able to get into the Tower(7). Once inside, we; killed 2 Gargoyles, crushed an intelligent Rolling Rock, broke a flying broom into a closet, killed 2 displacer beasts, stuck a volt into a closet, killed a mummy creature, killed 2 sets of snakes, and found a re-appearing black cat.

We have had many battles, the latest against a mage with a chess board. He called himself The Chestmaster (8). The board he used actually trapped the players inside the pieces. Thats where we all ended up except for Rondax, who ran the game. We were victorious, which is a bit of a surprise with the number and type of creatures the Chessmaster had on his side. For the final conflict in the board, I had to defeat a Blue Genie(9). We escaped the Chessmaster's lair using Jean-Luc's door, which he can open at will.

The time is near for me to part ways with my friends, my companions. The dreams have returned to haunt me. I feel the Battle is near, and it is my duty to help and protect my people. I am ashamed that I let my own pride cloud my judgement and my thoughts. Lorgun's death will come in time...and at my hands if the gods are willing. It is not timw for me to return to my people and lead them to the war that has befallen us. I hope my decisions are the right ones.

There is much that may happen in the near future. I pray to Shatterstriker that my people are safe. I continue to pray that they are willing and able to battle the orcs and reclaim our honor and land.

  1. The First half of 1996 is missing. I'm not sure why I didn't write anything during that time. This first post is a compilation of rememberances and notes from the second half of 1996 (from August through the beginning of December). If you remember anythin that occurred during this time frame please let me know.
  2. Arginius has to be a fairly powerful NPC in Irelia, possibly from Brechmore. I'm not sure how he was able to send us on this mission or why he needed those items.
  3. Nandezar was, I believe, an evil mage of some sort, possibly a necromancer.
  4. Serinn is the only city in Irelia where wizards and other magic users are safe. Its independant of Irelia but completely enclosed by it.
  5. Artel, we believe him to be the same Esper that visited us on our way to Brechmore.
  6. I'm not exactly sure what a Knight of the Mummy is, but Oswald was dead before we arrived.
  7. The Tower held a few other surprises/secrets that I can't remember. I believe something happened in there with Sarah...I believe she actually disappeared after failing to kill Jean-Luc.
  8. The Chessmaster was a worthy opponent and has been used in other campaigns by Laz. I don't know if Adam has used him since or not. I can't remember where he was and how we ran into him, or most of the battles on the board for that matter.
  9. I don't think this creature was a Genie as most ppl think of it. I do remember that the creature was blue and after some time in the battle took a gaseous form. Determined this was an Ogre Magi.
